Around 230 km, roughly a 4-hour drive via the Chennai–Bengaluru highway then 14 hairpin bends. One of the closest hill stations to Chennai — a common Friday-night or Saturday-morning departure.
Not comparable in scale — Yelagiri is much smaller with fewer attractions and sits lower (~1,400 m). Its advantage is proximity: leave Chennai in the morning, be at the lake by lunch, versus a full travel day each way to Ooty or Kodaikanal. Choose it for a quick quiet break, not extensive sightseeing.
Roughly 2 hours up, moderate rather than technical, best started at sunrise before the heat builds. Entirely optional — skip it if you want a relaxed trip.
Rainfall-dependent — best post-monsoon. Outside that window it can be dry or a trickle. Reaching it involves walking over rocky ground.
October to June. Popular during the Tamil Nadu summer, with the annual summer festival usually around May. Weekends are noticeably busier given how many visitors come from Chennai and Bengaluru.
